Summary

From 2007 until 2019, I have obtained the Town of Evans' assessment data in Microsoft Excel format. Beginning in 2020, Evans Supervisor Mary Hosler, changed the town's policy and began requiring a FOIL request to obtain the data. Since the town's assessor provided the assessment data in 2019 in Excel format, I must assume that in 2020 she was directed to no longer provide the Excel. Moving forward all FOIL requests were denied. All towns in Erie County, NY used the same assessment software. In 2020, the first year the Excel file was denied, the Town of Hamburg provided its assessment data in Excel format. In the Town of Evans the system of government is broke. You should have to file for an Article 78 to as a judge to require town officials to follow the law.
