8794 Lake Shore Road

9794 Lake Shore Road is an example of how politics crept into the Town of Evans reassessment process. The adjoining property at 9898 Lake Shore Road was owned by former Town of Evans Supervisor Paul Garvin. Using the assessment data in Microsoft Excel format, I wrote a Windows program that calculated a suggested assessment based on up to five (5) other "comparable" properties.

The Smith land value was $17.10 per sq. ft.

The Garvin land value was $8.37 per sq. ft.

The Smith building value was $48.58 per sq. ft.

The Garvin building value was $19.73 per sq. ft.

On comparable properties, how can the disparity be so significant?

If Bill Miller was assessed as was Paul Garvin, his assessment would have been $144,676 and not $315,000!
